24 hours until the first group (Galexy, Biff, Captain, and Davis) departs NoVA heading fo the great outdoors. With the James River in our sights, we head to Breeden's Bottom Campground in Arcadia, VA for what will be a day filled with plenty of Natty Light, setting up camp, fishing, floating, music, chorizo (Logan's Spicy Argentine) and fire.
We kept the menu short and sweet this year due to old age, not caring and the number of participants. You still can not go wrong with Precooked and packaged baby back ribs, homemade potato salad, 1/3lb hamburgers, hot dogs, and chorizo. For breakfast, we will have breakfast sandwiches that consist of Bacon, Egg, and Cheese on a Croissant, yes Nick I left a couple without cheese.
With nothing left to do but twiddle my thumbs, drink a Natty, and wait for tomorrow morning the anticipation is killing me...

Preparations continue...
The cool kids have 10 days left to river time, don't fret you can bet, we will document and share pictures of Friday's adventures, I envision my tube tied to a tree whilst floating in the calm James River with the sun shining, a cold natty and a bottle bourbon by my side. I don't know that I have ever been so excited for BK breakfast but Thomas has just inspired a craving after missing out last year.
What can you bring? Beer (Natty is always welcome, but IPA's or specialties are encouraged, remember that Cans are better for the river), Bourbon (Kentucky - preferred), or any other food you may want for yourself and to share. I usually bring granola bars and pop tarts as snacks. Beef Jerky, Dried fruits, Trail Mix, and other options that have worked well on the river. Electronics - bring whatever you wish but know that the James River doesn't have a return policy if it goes in the river....its probably staying there. So who's bringing their drone?!?!?!?
Also, if we want and if someone is willing we can forgo the breakfast I am planning and send someone to grab BK breakfast...just an option. If this is what everyone wants to do, let me know so I don't buy breakfast food for Sunday morning. The tentative itinerary below:
Friday:
700am: Josh, Alex, and Nick depart NoVA and head to Breeden's bottom campground.
10:30 am: Arrival and setup at Breeden's
11:00 am - 11:00 pm: Floating, Drinking, napping and whatever else can't be said here
Saturday:
5:00 am The rest of the group should depart NoVA in order to make our 9 am trip departure
8:00 am We can all meet at Breeden's, pack up cars and head to Twin River Outfitters
8:30 am BK Breakfast and canoe bullshit video rules
9:30am - TBD: River time
After River time: Camping at Breeden's (the campsite will already have been setup by Alex, Josh, and Nick) so this will be cooking and debauchery time
Sunday:
2:00 am: Quiet, everyone is sleeping and in need of freedom rockets!!
8:00 am - 9:00 am - Wake up, Breakfast
10:30 am Back on the river
2:30 pm: Pick up and head to Red Lobster (Nick's treat)
I HOPE YOU AND THE RIVER ARE READY!!!

WolfPak 2017 Planning Begins
On the first day of Spring, the WolfPak begins the planning phase of WolfPak 2017. This year's trip will not be commencing on the traditional Memorial Day weekend. We have decided to forego the holiday weekend and embark upon a new journey in the beginning of June. The dates have been set! The WolfPak's journey will begin June 3rd bright and early departing from Twin River Outfitters on what will be a two-day, one-night journey down the mighty James River. Although we encounter many challenges: where to store the plethora of Natty Light, Nick's insistent use of the bailer as a urinal, the all too familiar "you touched it" rule, the guaranteed loss of one camera and Matt visiting with the "neighbors". While these challenges are daunting, the WolfPak will rally on and keep morale at an all time high with the knowledge that we are free from all outside problems, worries, or cares and that there will always be a cold Natty to comfort you if all else fails.
IMPORTANT RULES TO NOTE:
Section 2.1.1 of the Wolfpak Code also known as the "pinky rule" states if a journey member with the wolfpak loses any appendage the length of Matt's pinky or shorter the trip continues
Section 3.5.1 of the Wolfpak Code clearly states "All Wolfpak Journeys will be documented by photographic stills and video by other members." Also note Section 3.5.1b "Wolfpak LLC has an ongoing contractual relationship with Lacoste Clothing. Media of members joining after the inaugural 2010 journey will be handed over for Lacoste to use in their Young Boys of Summer Promotional Brochure."

I can almost smell the river..
Fortunately the mighty James River does not smell but knowing that this trip is less than 48 hours away, I can smell the fresh clean air with hints of campfire and chorizo and taste the ice cold Natty with a side of bourbon. Naturally, I am all packed and ready to go, all food has been purchased and the menu has been slightly altered. Instead of doing breakfast burrito every morning i have decided to make homemade breakfast sandwiches and freeze them prior to departing for the wilderness, this should provide an easy morning meal, that just needs to be reheated. Secondly, Pita Pizza has been upgraded to whole large pizzas using pre-made pizza crusts (Boboli). After extensive taste testing and weight gain, i have found this to be the best method.
The Plan:
The WolfPak will arrive at CTP around 10am Friday morning and await the arrival of T-Bird from his duties at the office. Upon arrival, shotguns of Natty will be taken, followed by packing the cars and departure. Next stop: McDonald's....but then Breedens Bottom Campground will be not only our destination but also our DESTINY.
After arrival at Breeden's, camp will be set up and then the fun begins...fishing, fires, swimming, or floating in a tube tied to a tree with a cold Natty is where you will find me. After that....The ADVENTURE BEGINS!!!

34 days and counting...
34 DAYS!!
34 Days is all that is left between the WolfPak and the James River. This year we have decided to take a minimalist approach. We will only have what we bring on the river. In years past we have been able to stop half way through the trip at the cars to reload the coolers, get more ice, grab a snack at Burger King or just take a short break off the river. That is not going to be available to us this year. Our only chance at a re-up will be the first night on the river at the Gala Campground. If any of the Wolfpak dare to make the 1/2 mile trek through swampy, mosquito filled bogs with untold amounts of unpredictable wildlife to Kelley's Market we may be able to resupply our ice, but other than that we will only have what we can carry. This means, beer, food, water, ice, snacks, tent, chairs, grills, trash, and everything else we will need must fit in a canoe or it wont be on this journey. In order to keep the food footprint small, we have decided to bring as little perishable food as possible, fret not, chorizos are still on the menu. This years menu will be simple yet still delicious.
Breakfast: Breakfast Burritos (Fluffy, soft eggs with sauteed onions and peppers smothered in cheese and wrapped in a flour tortilla)
Lunches: On the river (Natty, Granola bars, mango strips, or chorizo on the river banks)
Dinners:
Night 1: Hamburgers/Hot Dogs/Chorizo
Night 2: Pita Pizza (Pizza sauce, cheese and the topping of your choice)
This means only the hamburger, hot dogs, chorizo, cheese, eggs and veggies will need to remain refrigerated, everything else can be left in a dry-bag and not take up valuable cooler space.
Another major concern: ICE! How do you keep ice frozen for four days in 80 degree temperatures?? Why is ice sooooo important? Well, BEER, duh! Who, besides Capt'n, enjoys cracking a piss-warm Natty?!?! To solve this problem we will be dedicating two full coolers solely to ice with the addition of dry ice to help keep things cold. These coolers will NOT be opened until ice is required to replenish the daily coolers. Opening of said coolers will result in severe punishment. (SHOTS)
